L-Glutamine:

Bodybuilders are using a lot of L-glutamine. The question is why? Well, let’s start with your body uses amino acids like L-Glutamine to improve immune function, intracellular fluid retention muscle protein synthesis, and speed up water absorption from the stomach.

When you train hard your body brakes down and need to repair it’s self. Which deplete a lot of the L-glutamine from your body. Which in turn you start to run your body down. That why it is very importance to get plenty of sleep especially when training hard. Training hard and not getting enough sleep can make you more susceptible to illness. By replenishing your system with L-Glutamine it helps to put you back on the right track. Not saying that it’s ok to train hard and not get adequate sleep as long as you take L-Glutamine. L-Glutamine will just help.

L-Glutamine is a natural substance, it’s a non-essential amino acid found in free form and as a component of proteins. L-Glutamine is absorbed into your system by eating foods such as meat, fish, and dairy products to name a few. You can also acquire L-Glutamine by taking supplements containing L-Glutamine.

L-Glutamine is highly in demand throughout the body. It is used in the stomach and immune system. L-Glutamine obtains about 60% of the free-form amino acids floating in skeletal muscles. L-Glutamine plays a very important role in protein metabolism, and it is a very important nutrient for body builders.

Research shows that after an intense work out glutamine levels in the body are reduced by as much as 50%. Since the body relies on glutamine as cellular fuel for the immune system, scientific studies have shown that glutamine supplementation can minimize the breakdown of muscle tissue and improve protein metabolism.

During strenuous exercise, the liver may not be able to produce enough glutamine to keep up with the amount of acid being generated by the body. New research suggests that taking L-glutamine may help to provide longer, harder workouts with less muscle soreness the next day.

Becoming ill or losing lean muscle mass are signs of deficiency. Catabolism or muscle break down can occur if the body takes the L-Glutamine that your muscle needs and uses it some where else such as nitrogen transport or maintaining the immune system.

It’s said that Bodybuilders can benefit by taking ten grams of L-glutamine per day, although clinical studies have not determined a precise amount for muscle metabolism optimization.
